How do I fight a ship?

With the new real-time combat update, I can't seem to figure out how the heck to fire back at a ship. It's completely different than before. I thought that the same skill would show up in the bottom pane, but that's not the case!

  • Wow! It seems to be much harder now. I've died twice now even knowing how to fight. My shots miss over and over. I miss my old abilities that allowed me to have a better chance of hitting the target. Maybe they still exist? I'll update this after I play around with it a bit more.
