This game is about robbing banks with three friends. It's a lot of fun and is by itself right now as a 3D heisting game, joined only by its sequel, Payday: The Heist. It's a lot of fun and does what it does pretty well.
It's 3D! I've seen AAA games that look worse.
Won some awards for best co-op of 2013. It's a blast to play with your friends. Even playing alone or with other people is pretty fun.
You usually have two options: Shooting your way into where you're robbing, or sneaking in. Both are equally rewarding in different ways. This is a Co-op game and you have to work together to steal valuables while fighting off waves of cops.
Has several difficulty levels, each with different payouts to reward harder difficulty.
The loot system is sort of upsetting. After every heist, you get to choose one of three cards. You don't know what the cards will be beforehand. After you choose, the card flips over and you get a loot item. It can be additional money, a mask, a color/material/pattern (for painting your mask), or a gun attachment. Getting what you want out of the game is pretty random, so if you're a shooter fan, you're probably going to be annoyed. If you have some experience with RPGs or MMOs you may be less upset at the random nature of drops.
It's a shooter! You shoot lots of cops. The action is pretty hot and heavy. You can kill most cops with one shot (to the head), but it takes quite a bit to bring a player down. To make up for it, there are usually around 15 cops near the players at any time.
It's first person! Aiming and everything is great. One of the DLCs adds LMGs, which so far are the only problem because there's no way to sight them. Aside from that, just as solid as any other FPS as far as perspective goes.
There are probably around 20 missions, and they can go slightly differently every time. The real fun is in playing with your friends, and you never know what's going to go wrong or if someone's going to mess up and you'll have to shoot your way out. I think it has pretty high replay value with some friends. My friends and I personally go back to this game about once a week to run some heists.
Difficulties ramp up from normal to overkill, which is super hard. If you attempt a harder heist, and complete it, you get a much higher money and xp payout.
You can 'Prestige' once you're at max level, which has its own rewards.
Seems to work just fine.
It has trading cards. Yay?
You can customize your mask. There are tons of them. You can paint and modify any mask with paints, materials, and patterns earned from heists. Additionally there is the skill tree.
There are four trees, and you can buy skills from any tree at any time. Every time you level up you get another point to spend. It's pretty straightforward. The four trees are probably meant to encourage a team of people to specialize in different areas.
A fun game with some friends. I have no real complaints, except that the loot system is kind of slow at giving you things you want. Otherwise, I highly recommend this game.

Diablo 3: What It Would Take For Me To Play LadderDiablo 3: What It Would Take For Me To Play Ladder. If the 16-22 year old me that was a Diablo 2 addict read this article and had access to the present me's pelvic region, I would be in a lot of pain and most likely be infertile right now.
