I see 3 types of zones. Safe, PvP limited and PvP. What does PvP limited mean?
In PvP limited zones, the attacker gets a debuff. I haven't attacked anyone yet, so I don't know the specifics of the debuff. So far, I haven't been attacked at all in a PvP limited zone. Since I've been mainly gathering and crafting, I'm pretty happy about that.
After you attack someone, I think you're marked as an aggressor and other people can see you on the map as a red icon. One other thing that I've noticed about PvP limited zones is that when someone dies, a skull and crossbones pops up on the map where they died.
The debuff that the aggressor gets is 20% less damage and they lose 20% of their health. I think that's what it is anyway...
