What can I use gold for?

It doesn't seem like you can use gold for that much. Can someone give me a list of things that I can spend gold on?

You can only buy real estate with silver. There are only a few things that you can spend gold on:

  • You can use gold in place of silver while crafting
  • You can also trade gold for silver or items with other players
  • You can use gold to pay real estate upkeep

There are probably other uses, but I have not discovered them yet while playing.
